about
Once a curious child organizing neighborhood street theatre, sewing garments out of scraps, and publishing a weekly cul-de-sac newspaper, adult Caroline can happily proclaim that not much has changed.
Now based in the Netherlands, she is a multidisciplinary academic and creative exploring how to mobilize artistic infrastructures against climate change. Having graduated Cum Laude from Radboud University's Creative Industries MA program as a Fulbright Student, Caroline now spends her time at the ArtEZ Unviersity of the Arts as both a Project Officer for Diversity and Inclusion for the school's conservatory and researcher for sustainable textiles within the NewTexEco consortium.
As an arts administrator: she co-founded and managed Village Verein, an independent orchestra in lower Manhattan. As the group's Executive Director, she transformed the group from student project to regularly producing ensemble, presenting unique theatrical and concert programming. Her last program was a four-night concert series of Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde," featuring Grammy-winning tenor Freddie Ballentine and alto Metropolitan Opera Chorus Member Heather Petrie. As an artist, Caroline primarily writes, works with fiber, and plays music. Working with composer David H. Mailman, the two form a composer/librettist duo. Their collaborative work has premiered at festivals and universities across the United States. Working with fiber, Caroline has been sewing since early childhood. She maintains open garment construction and repair commissions, shipping to clients across the globe. She also teaches crochet lessons.
As a Wagnerian: she has attended the Bayreuther Festspiele as a stipendiatin as part of the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation. Chairing the Wagner Society of New York's Affliated Organization's committee, she leads scholarship recruitment and represens the New York society abroad as a representative to the Richard Wagner Verband International.
